Valentine's Day

I don't have a lot of Valentine's decor,

but here are a few pink and reds around my house.

A Very Special Announcement

I have some exciting news to share, friends...

You know how I just love books, right?

Well, I am delighted to announce that this year my husband and I will be adding a whole new collection to our home library... ( ;

We're having a baby!

I'm finally out of the first trimester (goodbye morning sickness!), and our little one is due to join the family this August. Baby Francesca is so excited to meet her new cousin and BFF!

Of course, my mom is thrilled to be a grandma again. I prepared a sweet little surprise for her when I came back for Christmas.

We should know the sex in a couple of weeks, so stay tuned for the big reveal...

Carmel

This is Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Many homes look like little European cottages.

The downtown village is full of charm.

There are restaurants, art galleries, bakeries, coffee shops, and high-end boutiques.

You can see the famous Pebble Beach in the far distance.

Isn't this the truth?

A Few Favorites from Dr. King

"The time is always right to do what is right."

"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward."

"If we are to have peace on earth, our loyalties must become ecumenical rather than sectional. Our loyalties must transcend our race, our tribe, our class, and our nation; and this means we must develop a world perspective."

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

"I have decided to stick with love...Hate is too great a burden to bear."

Gallery Love

I finally finished the baby's gallery wall above her changing table.

I had a vision of what I wanted, but she came into the world before I had a chance to complete it.

She loves to stare at it when I'm changing her, and many of the items have a special meaning or story attached.

My best friend gave me these tiny shutters because she knows I love miniature things, but they have been sitting off to the side for quite a while, since I wasn't sure how to use them.

I decided to create shelves with them.

Nel made this hot air balloon for my bridal shower.

Mom and my mother-in-law bought this pretty rosary and stuffed bunny at the gift shop when Francesca was born.

My friend has a sign business, and she made this lovely handmade sign for us. Her signs are creative and affordable, and she can do custom orders. You can find her work here: Marilyn Avenue Sign Co.

These L-o-v-e blocks were in my bedroom when I was a little girl, and now I'm passing them on to my little girl.

My colleague made this piece. We coached an elementary girls' running club last spring, and this is inspired by an activity that promoted self-love.

Lastly, I just love unicorns, and the headpiece is from my wedding reception.

I hope you've enjoyed a sneak peak into one of my home projects. I'm learning to accept that things are just going to take longer now, even if it's months longer than anticipated!

Happy New Year!

Hello sweet friends.  Just wanted to tell you that I'll be taking a blog break for awhile.  Why?  Well, because this is the first one I've had in the seven years since we started.  I think it's time, don't you?  I am only an e-mail away, and I do hope you write me an occasional note to keep in touch.  Jess and Nel will be filling in for me and still post as often as they can with their busy schedules.  I will leave you with some pictures of nature, as you all know how much I love spending time there.  It cleanses my mind, and it is there where I dwell in peace~

Happy New Year!
Joy to you!

And know I love you.
