Sights of the City

Oh, the grandness...

the charm...

the creativity...

 of this enchanting City!

Husband and I encountered breathtaking beauty around every turn as we explored Paris on our honeymoon.

The majesty of the Notre Dame is unparalleled.

The Arc de Triumph rises into the blue sky as a powerful symbol of French liberty.

Climbing the hundreds of steps that lead the way to the Sacre Coeur Basilica, the tired traveler is invigorated by a divine sight.

Constructed during the 11th century, the adjacent église Saint-Pierre de Montmartre is the oldest church in Paris.

The treasures of Les Invalides include medieval French armor,

exquisite interior spaces,

and Napoleon's monumental tomb.

Whether world-renowned,

or privately discovered,

these city sights will live happily in our memories until my husband and I have the good fortune to return to sweet Paris again.

Thank you for joining me for this second tour in our honeymoon series. I can't wait to meet you again next week in the Louvre where we'll enjoy "The Art of Living"!

Bisous!

Where Did Your Blog Name Come From

Do you ever wonder
where our friend's
blog names came
from?  I am always
curious about this,
and maybe you
are as well.

First, I will tell
you why we chose
our blog name, and
what it means to us.

Out of all the roses,
we think the red rose
is the most beautiful.
And it is a symbol of
Love.

Alleys have always
been a bit mysterious
to us, and fun too.

So, that's where we
got our name,
Red Rose Alley.

Now, we are
interested how
you came up
with your
blog name.
Please tell us.
We would love
to know.

Have a sweet day.

Romance in Paris

Bonjour dear friends! My husband and I just returned from our romantic honeymoon in Paris, and what a time we had!

It was a truly enchanting week, and I am delighted to share some of the very special memories we made with you.

Every Monday for the next few weeks, I will be posting a new part of our honeymoon story. I hope you enjoy the first in this four-part tour of the City of Light and Love!

One of the best parts about the trip was the Eiffel Tower view we had from our hotel.

Each morning, my husband and I woke up to the smell of fresh coffee brewing downstairs and opened our balcony windows to take in the stunning view.

Our first night in the City we took a romantic boat tour up and down the Seine. My husband took this panoramic photo from the deck as we sipped our sparkling champagne under the stars.

Paris by night is stunning. The classic French architecture is illuminated by thousands of lights.

But the daytime is just as splendid. Though it's still wintertime in Paris (it actually snowed just the week before we came!), the springtime flowers are already starting to bud.

The Jardin du Luxembourg was the perfect place to stroll hand-in-hand and enjoy the more laid-back French life style.

For our wedding ceremony we recited traditional vows to one another, but we also wrote our own, which we had saved to read on our honeymoon.

We made our sacred promises to one another as husband and wife and "locked our love" on Lover's Bridge, throwing the key into the river as a symbol of our unbreakable bond.

Because we were just a 5-minute stroll to the Eiffel Tower from our hotel room, we visited this magnificent structure several times. Here are a few of my favorite photos from both below and above.

I hope you had a lovely tour through romantic Paris in this first part of our honeymoon series. Be sure to check back next Monday for "Sights of the City."

À bientôt, mes amis!
