A Letter In The Mail

I love receiving hand written letters or notes in the mail.  The other day, my mother-in-law sent me one, and it was four pages long!  My mother-in-law is 87 years old, so you can imagine how surprised and pleased I was to get this thoughtful letter.

She wrote about what she's been doing lately, and the happenings of the family.  When I finished reading it, I had a big smile on my face.

I love my mother-in-law, and she has been a part of my life for 36 years.  She's a wonderful woman with a big heart and much knowledge.  Can you believe she had 10 children?

How will our children
know who they are
if they don't know
where they come from?
~John Steinbeck

It brightened my day when I got a letter in the mail from her, and these orange roses are for her.

Do you ever get hand written notes or cards in the mail any more?

Good Reads

Do you love reading as much as I do?

Novels, non-fiction, biographies, children's books, magazines... I love them all.

Special Time Together

I spent the
weekend with
my girls.
We got Starbucks
and goodies
in the morning.

We were all
wearing the same
shoes and
didn't realize it
until later.
Nel's were a bit
different.

I made a baked
spaghetti.

We went
shopping.

It was a fun
weekend with
my girls.

Have a good
week spending it
with your
favorite people.

One Of A Kind

I have never been into the latest fads or trends.  When something new and big comes around, I turn the other way and run.  I've always wanted to be an original, with my own expressive style and taste.

From Fashion

To Jewelry

To Home Décor

To Music

I saw this cup when I was out shopping, and just had to buy it.

It's not easy to turn away from the crowd that's luring us in, but when we do, a whole new change awaits us.  We are able to say,
Here I am,
I am real,
I am different,
I am special.

Picture of Nel when she dressed as a Flapper girl.

May your day be filled with all that is different and good.

The County Fair

There's something about the county fair that makes me smile.

Maybe it's the farm animals,

the gardens,

the fried food,

the carnival rides,

or perhaps the art exhibits.

What is your favorite part of the fair?

From This Day Forward

33 years ago, I married the man of my dreams.

Joy filled our home, but through the years, the dream faded a bit.  The dream became a reality of parents' and brothers' deaths, children's struggles, financial burden in the early years, and broken hearts.

We managed to stay together through it
all, during the good times and the terrible times.  What I learned is that a great love doesn't always mean that nothing goes wrong, a great love can be when things DO go wrong, and you still have a great love.

These lyrics by Tanya Tucker have always been very special to me.

Like two sparrows in a hurricane
Trying to find their way
With a head full of dreams
And faith that can move anything
They've heard it's all uphill
But all they know is how they feel
The world says they'll never make it
Love says they will

Summer Road Trip Continued: Moab, Utah

Our last stop in our summer road trip was Moab, Utah to view Arches National Park

This place was amazing.

The weather wasn't exactly mild.
Hot, dry, and windy...

but seeing the natural arches and unique rock formations was well worth it.

The arches were formed over a long period of time thanks to water, wind, and ice.

But the arches weren't the only unique sights.

Can you find an animal in this rock?

After hiking through the desert terrain, we found the famous Delicate Arch.

It was so big and grand!

We couldn't leave without visiting this natural beauty: Landscape Arch.

Arches National Park is a definite must-see if you are in the area.

That concludes my summer road trip...

I hope you are staying cool and enjoying the final days of summer.
